Want to talk about employment options with people who understand military life and your vast experience? Interested in translating your volunteerism to the job market? Unsure or how and when you might pursue your career goals?

If so, your year at the US Army War College presents a great opportunity to invest in YOURSELF. If employment or employment prep is on your "to do" list, check out one or more of the following workshops - (*please register in advance to guarantee available workshop materials)

Employment workshops are in partnership with the Department of Labor’s Transition Employment Assistance for Military Spouses (TEAMS) and Carlisle Barracks Spouse Employment Readiness. All workshops are held in the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) Classroom, 842 Sumner Rd (next to the Leisure Travel Office)

Thursday, 20 July – Civilian Resume Workshop/Review and Job Fair Preparation, 0900-1230
For incoming US Army War College and Carlisle Barracks spouses who are looking for employment, this workshop is a great opportunity to fine-tune your resume and get a review from our Employment Readiness Experts. The workshop will also help you prepare for the annual Military Hiring Event at the Carlisle Expo Center on August 9 from 1100-1500. Tuesday, 19 September, 0930-1130– "My Next Move" - Career Exploration for Spouses
A fun, interactive two-hour workshop that guides participants to use Department of Labor online resources to explore career opportunities. Trained facilitators assist participants in using labor market information research to focus on interests that could lead to an exciting career path! Additionally, participants develop a job search plan based on their interests and employment skills.

Tuesday, 17 October - Resume workshop for Spouses, 0930-1130, 1 hour break for lunch, 1230-1430–
A four-hour workshop designed to help participants create an effective resume for the career they want. Department of Labor-trained facilitators will provide guidance and teach participants to evaluate their resumes and understand effective job application techniques. Focus is on spouse population, with attention paid to volunteerism, return-to-work considerations, and a non-linear career path.

Tuesday, 21 November – LinkedIn Profiles: 0930-1130
This two-hour workshop walks participants through building their LinkedIn profiles. Participants learn how to create a profile that markets their professional brand, uses keywords to attract recruiters, and utilizes LinkedIn for skill endorsements and recommendations from their networks. This workshop is a prerequisite for the LinkedIn Job Search workshop on 23 January 2024.

This two-hour workshop offers insider knowledge to utilize LinkedIn’s job search features. Participants learn how to set job alerts, connect with new people, join groups, and follow organizations to grow their networks. This workshop also shares a rare sneak peek into the recruiter’s view on LinkedIn, providing invaluable insight into best practices for finding job opportunities on LinkedIn.

Tuesday, 12 March 2024 – Federal Employment for Spouses (USA Jobs): 0900-1200
In this three-hour workshop tailored for military spouses, expect to 1) learn important facts about the federal hiring process, particularly special categories for military spouse hiring; 2) know how to focus on and respond to the most important information in a federal job description; and 3) better understand how to tailor your resume to the job announcement for the federal job you seek.

This two-hour workshop explains basic knowledge for salary, compensation, job offers and negotiation skills. Included exercises and resources will help you understand your worth to your next employer.
