The graduation ceremony of the U.S. Army War College Distance Class of 2017 graduated Friday, July 28 at 9 a.m. at the Wheelock Bandstand on the historic parade grounds of Carlisle Barracks. This year’s graduating class consists of 336 Army officers, 4 Navy, 3 Air Force, 10 Marines, 27 Civilians, and 5 International Fellows from 5 different countries.
The resident class of 2018 dedicated a class gift to the Army War College during a ceremony at the flagpole in front of Root Hall tomorrow June 20. The gift commemorates the centennial of Armistice Day and the end of World War I.
The Army War College - the primary mission at Carlisle Barracks today is defined by its legacy of evolution in response to a changing environment.

Sculptor Gary Casteel discusses his most recent work, as commissioned by the Army War College Class of 2017. The WWI Doughboy commemorates the 100 year anniversary of WWI. The sculpture will be presented to the USAWC at a ceremony on June 7, 2017.
Ms. Susan Eisenhower, grand daughter of President Dwight D. Eisenhower spoke to the DDE class of 2023 during their graduation ceremony today at Carlisle Barracks’s historic parade field. Ms. Eisenhower is a respect national security analyst and author.

The Distance Class of 2018 celebrated completion of two years of Army War College studies, earning the master’s degree in Strategic Studies, June 27, 2018.
On this day in 1901, then Secretary of War Elihu Root established the Army War College to educate senior military officers. Root anticipated an educational institution that could be a catalyst for educating, planning and preparing senior military officers to be strategic-minded and leaders of change.
Each year on Dec. 7, Pearl Harbor survivors, veterans, and visitors from all over the world come together to honor and remember the service members and civilians who were killed during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Dec. 7, 1941. The Army War College honored a distinguished member of the Class of 2015 today with an induction into the International Fellows Hall of Fame Oct 18. Major General Eirik Kristoffersen assumed the duty as the Chief of the Norwegian Army in August of 2019 after most recently served as the Chief of the Norwegian Home Guard. He becomes the 69th International Fellow to receive the honor.

Eyre with an induction into the International Fellows Hall of Fame on Nov 4 in Carlisle’s Bliss Hall. Eyre assumed the duty as the Chief of the Canadian Defence Staff on Nov 25, 2021, after most recently serving as the Commander Canadian Army. He is the 72nd graduate of the war college to receive the International Fellow honor.
