Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and the Exercise of National Power

  • Integrated Student/Faculty research project exploring the role and importance of gender equality and perspectives in exercising instruments of national power (2-4 faculty/5-8 students)
  • Examines how the application and incorporation of gender dynamics improves security outcomes creating an environment for improving decision making/development of future strategic leaders
  • Focus on strategic-mindedness and interoperability
  • Consideration of gender and human security perspectives in:
    • Command planning, execution, and assessment processes; critical thinking and decision-making;
    • Incorporating gender perspectives in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational environments (JIIM); and, accounting for local and indigenous actors and stakeholders
  • The IRP will result in written, published analysis on WPS. Results presented through conferences, podcasts, and webinars
    • Currently, much data but analysis and understanding lacking
