AY 21 Integrated Research Project
Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) and the Exercise of National Power
- Integrated Student/Faculty research project exploring the role and importance of gender equality and perspectives in exercising instruments of national power (2-4 faculty/5-8 students)
- Examines how the application and incorporation of gender dynamics improves security outcomes creating an environment for improving decision making/development of future strategic leaders
- Focus on strategic-mindedness and interoperability
- Consideration of gender and human security perspectives in:
- Command planning, execution, and assessment processes; critical thinking and decision-making;
- Incorporating gender perspectives in joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational environments (JIIM); and, accounting for local and indigenous actors and stakeholders
- The IRP will result in written, published analysis on WPS. Results presented through conferences, podcasts, and webinars
- Currently, much data but analysis and understanding lacking
