The Community Leader Information Forum is open to all Army War College/ Carlisle Barracks community members, led by Commandant Maj. Gen. John Kem and Garrison Commander Lt. Col. Courtney Short monthly at the Letort View Community Center.

The following were discussion points at the February 26 CLIF.The next scheduled CLIF is March 25 at 11 a.m. to noon.

A loud buzzing noise is noted at times in the Meadows Housing area. The garrison commander explained that the electric transformers between the Exchange and Commissary hum for two reasons:Magnetic fields cause the internal accessories of the transformer to vibrate at a frequency of either 50 or 60 Hz. The other source of the electric hum is magnetostriction (you might have to google that) and is produced by a transformer, also.

The Maltz Challenge to honor the fallen is a MWR-sponsored series of physical challenges – run, pull-ups, push-ups, more – with Challenge coins to be awarded to top 3 individuals, top team, and top individual for the half Maltz. Indian Field, March 20, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.For more info, email
