Films and faculty partnered to explore strategic leadership, decision-making

Students, staff, faculty and retirees are invited to the free, informal viewings that add insight for selected episodes in the evolution of warfare from antiquity to the present.

The strategic art film program begins in Wil Washcoe Auditorium Aug. 14 with the showing of the movie “Darkest Hour,” moderated by USAWC Provost Dr. Jim Breckenridge. The movie is the true account of Winston Churchill’s most crucial decisions of World War II as the New Prime Minister of Great Britain.Breckenridge will add his insights as military officer and academic.

Have you ever watched a commercial movie based on history, and wondered about the rest of the story: Which parts are true? What’s the historical context? What happened after the high drama moments of the movie? USAWC faculty members volunteer to offer insights and lead discussions for the classic films of the Strategic Film Series offered throughout the year.

Students, staff, faculty and retirees are invited to the free, informal viewings that add insight for selected episodes in the evolution of warfare from antiquity to the present.

The film series is sponsored by the Association of the U.S. Army; AUSA volunteers coordinate the refreshments that add to the camaraderie of each viewing throughout the academic year, usually on Tuesday afternoons.

The classical films address strategic and operational themes:
