U.S. Army War College Board of Visitors

The U.S. Army War College Board of Visitors is a standing sub-committtee of the Army Education Advisory Committee (AEAC). Official meetings are conducted twice a year at Carlisle Barracks, Pennsylvania. Each meeting takes place over a one-and-a-half day period and includes familiarization with the Carlisle Barracks community, direct observation of ongoing joint professional military education, official social events, and a business meeting.

The Board of Visitors, by virtue of an approved Secretary of Defense and Congressionally approved Charter designating it as a subcommittee under the existing AEAC, consists of no more than 12 distinguished men and women from academia, business, government, military, research and other professions and works at the pleasure of the Commandant, U.S. Army War College.

As specified in the AEAC Charter, the U.S. Army War College Board of Visitors, as a permanent subcommittee, reports all of its recommendations and advice solely to the AEAC for full and open deliberation and discussion. The Board operates under the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), the Sunshine Act, governing Federal statutes and regulations, and established DOD policies and procedures.

Meeting minutes, member lists, and reports of the BOV are all available on the public FACA database website.
